Dorchester, Massachusetts
On Monday, May 11, 2020, the death angel reached out and touched our beloved Diane Agnes Harding (Lovell) at approximately 8:00 pm and she peacefully departed this life.
Diane was a very active devoted member of the Greenwood Methodist Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts where she served as Head Usher as it gave her a sense of purpose, especially after her retirement. Diane loved the lord. Her favorite quote was “god is in control”
She was born in Trinidad, West Indies on January 20, 1942, to the late Alfonso Beckles and Evelyn Lovell. In her youth, Diane took voice and piano lessons and loved it. She also liked to dance to the beats of soca and reggae music. Diane lived her life with extraordinary capacity of love and kindness.
At a young age, Diane met and married the late Ancil S Knight and from that union they had five daughters (Erleen, Charmaine, Beverly, Petra and Gail), those children gave her 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Diane emigrated to the United States in 1969 to Boston, MA where she lived throughout her life. Like many working women of her generation, Diane balanced the demands of her children, work, and church.
She was employed at University/Boston Medical Hospital for over 44 years. In the early days of her career she was supervisor of housekeeping and after earning her secretarial certificate, she became a Unit Secretary until her retirement.
Diane met the love of her life, Dennis Harding and they married on September 7, 2001. Mr. Harding gave her the best 20 years of her life, she loved him dearly, they were always together. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren to whom she supported at their times of need.
She was a loving, caring, and giving person who had a courageous spirit filled with patience and candor. Her death is a sincere and personal loss to her family and friends.
Mourning her physical presence is her husband -- Dennis Harding, her children, Erleen, Charmaine, Beverly, Petra and Gail, 24 grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, step children Carlene Marshall and Dennis Jr., and her step grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Cherril Lynch and brother George Sayers, and a host of nieces, nephews, God children and other relatives and friends.
Private services will be held by the family.
